PRIORITISE YOUR LOVE

Assalamualaikum.

May Almighty Allah grant us goodness and acceptance….

Quran (1:6) Guide us the straight path.

Quran (1.7) Path of those upon whom you have bestowed favour, not of those who have evoked [your] anger or those who went astray.

Before even prioritising our love, let’s ask ourselves.

What is Love?

1.An intense feeling of deep affection.

2.A feeling of warm personal attachment.

3.A feeling of strong attraction and emotional attachment.

I want to start this by asking you a very simple question, based on the above-mentioned definitions of love. Who do you love most? or How much love do you have for ALLAH?

Whenever we encounter these types of questions we end up saying, we love Allah more than anything else in this world. Let`s check the constancy and fidelity of this statement.

How many among us are ready to sacrifice worldly good for an act of love towards our Lord i.e. worship?

How many among us really believe the ayah of Quran in which our lord says “and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.”? Quran (2:216)

How many among us are anxious and on toes to answer to the call of Allah swt?

-----If you have a class to attend and the teacher is calling you to join the class and meanwhile you hear Adhaan from a masjid nearby, well everyone knows what we all are supposed to do in such a situation, but a few righteous among us pay heed to the listened;

حيَّ على الصلاة
حيَّ على الفلاح

“Hay-ya` ala-s- Salah (hurry to the prayer)”

“Hay-ya` ala-l- Falah (hurry to the success)”.

----How many among us deal with Riba (usury) according to the Islamic ways and guidelines? are we really heedful about these things.

Allah says in the Quran (2:278) O you who believe! Eat not Riba (usury)doubled and multiplied, but fear Allah that you may be successful.

Likewise, we do have a lot of examples to prove to ourselves that we have more love for the materialistic world than for the Allah. We are lost in the Dunya (materialistic world) and the love for ALLAH is just confined to our words and is not felt by our heart.

Quran (19:96) states that “But the lord of mercy will give love to those who believe and do righteous deeds:”

Here Allah [SWT] is mentioning the people who first of all believe and then further strengthened their belief by doing good deeds. They don’t just claim to believe, they don`t just say we are believers, but they do good righteous deeds and actions which includes sabr (Patience) and trust in Allah swt .

We all are lost in this materialistic world chasing our desires. A wise man once said Imagine waking up with the things you thanked your lord for yesterday. We can be found in a state of want almost every time, selfishly seeking our own vain desires, failing to be grateful for the abundant blessings that surround us. We remember our lord only when a calamity befalls us, we turn to our lord only when we are in need, And when we are blessed we still are ingrate: Prophet s.a.w describes the quality of a believer by saying “ Strange are the ways of a believer for there is good in every affair of his and this is not the case of a believer for if he has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks God, thus there is good for him in it, and if he gets into trouble and shows resignation and endures it patiently, there is good for him in it”. Sahih Muslim book 55, hadith 82

The other implication of loving this Dunya (materialistic world) more than anything else, is that we have started to relay on it, we have started to think it as our permanent abode and as a result it has made its way into the centre of our hearts; No-one should be more beloved to us than Allah swt.And if we love anyone else more than Allah then we are at a risk of harming ourselves, because the world and the worldly things keeps on changing, this Dunya (worldly life) is not constant, it is dynamic. The person or things we love will ultimately leave us, and unfortunately, we human beings are reluctant to change. We cant balme the twig's snap as we lean on it for support, it was never created to carry our weight in the first place. Our weight was only meant to be carried by Allah.

All we need to do is to put Allah at the centre of our hearts. The core of our heart is just made for Allah. You will end up doing wrong with yourself if you put your parents, your children, your spouse, your status, your money at the centre of your heart, wh
ere only Allah is meant to be placed. Imagine the heart to be in a circular shape and every ray of do`s and don’ts form the circumference of our heart should reflect from the centre of our heart. Nobody in the world will ever love us like Allah does. We need to place our trust in Allah swt and trust his decree.

May Allah swt open up the doors of his love for all of us and be pleased by our deeds

Ameen
